More about:

On the Basque Coast you can enjoy a wide variety of activities. It is recognised as one of the main surfing destinations in Europe for learning and practising surfing. You can't miss the experience of sailing, taking an unforgettable swim or watching the sunset from the deck of a sailing boat.

As funny as it sounds

More than 70 years ago, surfing entered the peninsula through the Basque Country. Today, with more than 50 waves for all levels and an excellent network of professional services, the Basque Coast is recognised as one of the main surfing destinations in Europe for learning and practising surfing.

We encourage you to try to catch at least one wave, alone, as a couple or with your family, with the help of the Surfing Euskadi schools. Fun is guaranteed, and you'll want to do it all over again.

The Basque coast from the sea

For the experience of sailing, an unforgettable swim or watching the sunset from the deck of a sailing boat, charter companies offer trips lasting several hours or a day. And for cetacean lovers and fishing enthusiasts, specific trips to the best areas.

If you are looking for a more relaxed plan, you will find guided excursions on board large catamarans and tourist boats to the most beautiful spots on the Basque Coast: the Bilbao estuary, San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, Urdaibai, the Geopark flysch, San Sebastian, the bay of Txingudi...

Trawler races, the spectacle of colour

More than a hundred years of tradition have made the La Concha trawler races the spectacle of the Basque Country’s sporting year.
