An estimated <strong>11 million tons of plastic are currently being dumped into the ocean<\/strong>, according to a 2020 study by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewtrusts.org\/en\/research-and-analysis\/articles\/2020\/07\/23\/breaking-the-plastic-wave-top-findings?utm_campaign=conservation_pop_oceans_______&amp;utm_source=general_nohandle&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_content=article_general____none_&amp;utm_term=__vanity_\">The Pew Charitable Trusts<\/a>. Aware of this situation, <strong>Coca-Cola<\/strong> has been working for years to address the issue of marine litter from a holistic perspective with the aim of generating <strong>real change<\/strong> and tackling the problem in all its aspects.<\/p>\n<p>This is how the Coca-Cola &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cocacolaespana.es\/sostenibilidad\/medioambiente\/mares-circulares\">Mareas Circulares<\/a>&#8221; programme was born in 2018 to <strong>clean<\/strong> up coasts, aquatic environments and seabeds, raise awareness and training on recycling and promote the circular economy.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ssl-host:8890\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/zuma08-306.jpg\" alt=\"C\" itemprop=\"image\" title=\"zuma08-306\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t<p><strong>11 million tonnes of <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>plastic are currently <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>dumped into the ocean<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\tIn Zarautz, Deba and Zumaia\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>As part of a new edition and thanks to the strategic support of Aquarium San Sebastian, the &#8220;Mareas Circulares&#8221; programme has organised a waste clean-up of the beaches of <strong>Zarautz, Deba and Zumaia on 3, 4 and 5 November<\/strong> respectively. The PET collected will be reintegrated into the Coca-Cola value chain as part of the roadmap towards the circular economy. Waste collection activities on the beaches are resuming with all the necessary safety measures after a few months in which the project has had to adapt to the restrictions dictated by the
