This is 20% less than the amount harvested the previous year, meeting the initial harvest forecasts. Only the grapes destined for the <strong>wines known<\/strong> as &#8220;late harvest&#8221; have yet to be harvested.<\/p>\n<p>The Navarra Designation of Origin is bringing the 2021 harvest to an end with <strong>excellent quality fruit<\/strong>. The grapes were harvested in <strong>very good conditions<\/strong>. The harvest began at the end of August and after the initial rains in the first days of September, the weather stabilised, in addition to the very positive arrival of the north wind. The wide temperature oscillation between day and night and the &#8220;cierzo&#8221; (wind) favoured <strong>a very good development of the grapes<\/strong> and an excellent end of ripening.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ssl-host:8890\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Paisaje001.jpg\" alt=\"Paisaje001\" itemprop=\"image\" title=\"Paisaje001\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t<p><strong>The 10,017 hectares that make <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>up the vineyards of the <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Navarra Designation of Origin <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>have been harvested by 1,750 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>winegrowers and 89 bodegas<\/strong><\/p>\n\t<p>The <strong>10,017 hectares<\/strong> that make up the vineyards of the <strong>Navarra Designation of Origin<\/strong> have been harvested by 1,750 growers and 89 wineries. Red grapes such as Garnacha, Tempranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Graciano, Mazuelo, Pinot Noir and Syrah and <strong>white grapes<\/strong>: Chardonnay, Viura, Garnacha Blanca, Moscatel de Grano Menudo, Sauvignon Blanc to make white, ros\u00e9 and red wines. &#8220;<em>The grapes harvested are<strong> excellent<\/strong> and together with the work of the professionals we have in the D.O. Navarra, we expect a great vintage 2021 with which to look to the future<\/em>&#8220;, says <strong>David Palacios<\/strong>, president of the D.O. Navarra.<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\tCutting the last bunch\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>The cutting of the last bunch of grapes by the Regional Minister of <strong>Rural Development and Environment<\/strong> of the Government of Navarra, <strong>Itziar G\u00f3mez<\/strong>, at EVENA&#8217;s experimental estate in Olite, marked the official closing of the grape harvest.
