In the second edition of the Sala BBK<\/strong>‘s alternative performing arts event, the production “Billennium”<\/strong>, an immersive performance by the English company Uninvited Guests that has been advised by the historian Toti Mart\u00ednez de Lezea<\/strong> and the Town Planning Councillor, Asier Abaunza<\/strong>, among others, stands out.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"BILLENNIUM\"\n\t\tBILLENNIUM\n\t

The extensive and varied programme of BBK OFF<\/strong>, the Bilbao festival of alternative performing arts<\/strong> that is celebrating its second edition in 2022, includes in its second weekend (7-10 April) an innovative production<\/strong> that will show spectators what the Bilbao of the future will be like<\/strong>. “Billennium” is an immersive performance of which fifteen shows have been programmed, each one for a reduced audience of only 12 people.<\/p>\n

Starting at the Sala BBK on Bilbao’s Gran V\u00eda, the festival’s headquarters, these unusual theatrical guided tours will pass through Abando<\/strong> station, the Estuary<\/strong> and Bilbao La Vieja<\/strong>. An individual device provided by the organisers will allow each spectator to discover, along the route, what these places could be like in 10, 20, 50 years’ time. There will be utopian and dystopian scenarios, more typical nowadays of science fiction, and other unexpected ones. In all of them, different narrations and stories will take place, accompanied by their corresponding surround sound space as well as the appearance, in real time and thanks to augmented reality, of a futuristic ‘speculative architecture’ drawn<\/strong> on the current buildings.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"\nBILLENNIUM\n

“Billennium” is a creation of the English company Uninvited Guests<\/strong>, formed by Jessica Hoffmann<\/strong> and Paul Clarke<\/strong>, which will be at BBK OFF 2022 thanks to the Basque production company Ikuseearte<\/strong> (Raquel Castells<\/strong>) and the European Union programme Perform Europe<\/strong>. With the support of the latter, this groundbreaking show, which has already been seen in Bristol (United Kingdom) and Antwerp (Belgium), will be coming to Bilbao, Budapest (Hungary) and Belgrade (Serbia) in the next few months. As this is a project specifically adapted to each city in which it is carried out, in the case of Bilbao Hoffmann and Clarke have been advised by, among others, the historian and writer Toti Mart\u00ednez de Lezea<\/strong>, the town planning councillor Asier Abaunza<\/strong> and Eider Inunciaga<\/strong>, director of BBK Kuna: La casa de los ODS <\/strong>(The house of the ODS), a new space for social innovation dedicated precisely to offering solutions that respond to the challenges of the future of Bizkaia.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"TO\n\t\tTO THOSE BORN LATER\n

\n\t\t“To Those Born Later”\n\t<\/h2>\n\t

Hoffmann and Clarke will also give a talk<\/strong> during the BBK OFF 2022 festival entitled “Digital Transformation in the Performing Arts<\/a>” (BBK Kuna; 6 April<\/strong>; 11:00h; free admission), on the use of interactive technologies<\/strong> to connect with the audience, both with remote audiences and in face-to-face performances. Also, on 23 April<\/strong>, both will perform their creation “To Those Born Later” simultaneously in the three aforementioned cities (Bilbao, Budapest and Belgrade). It is an interactive, online performance that will bring together audiences from the three countries<\/strong> to discuss what should be put into a time capsule that will be opened in 150 years’ time, as a legacy for future generations. Places to take part are already on sale on the Sala BBK website<\/a>, at a free price to be set by each spectator when they get their ticket. To take part, all you need is a computer with a good Internet connection and another device (such as a mobile phone or tablet).<\/p>\n\t
