Journalists from the main media and blogs<\/strong> of the city of Bordeaux<\/strong> and its metropolitan area are visiting the tourist resources of Alava and Vitoria-Gasteiz this week as part of the Come for a trip<\/strong> international promotion campaign of the Provincial Council and the City Council to publicise the natural, historical and food and wine heritage of the territory in France, Belgium, Italy and Portugal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"Rioja-Alavesa\"\n\t

Professionals from traditional press and online media, both generalist and specialised in the world of gastronomy and wine tourism<\/strong>, are getting to know, among other resources, the Green Belt<\/strong> and the Medieval Almond of Vitoria-Gasteiz, including the Cathedral of Santa Mar\u00eda; the Salt Valley of A\u00f1ana<\/strong>; medieval villages, wineries and experiences in Rioja Alavesa<\/strong>; and some of the most outstanding natural spaces such as the area around the Salto del Nervi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

The Provincial Councillor for the Promotion of Employment, Trade and Tourism, Cristina Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong>, explains that the French market is “key to the development and consolidation of our tourism sector<\/strong>, as almost one out of every four foreign visitors who spend the night in \u00c1lava’s accommodation comes from the neighbouring country. Our aim is to improve the figures for travellers from France<\/strong> and we are on the right track: in the first half of the year, the number of travellers from France has grown by 10%<\/strong> compared to the pre-pandemic records”.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"ValleSalado\"\n\t

Almost one out of four foreign visitors staying overnight in accommodation in Alava comes from France<\/strong><\/p>\n\t

The Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Economic Promotion, Trade and Tourism, Maider Etxebarria<\/strong>, reinforces this idea and also stresses that “our offer of nature, heritage, food<\/strong> and wine<\/strong> responds very well to the demands of this market. Vitoria-Gasteiz and Alava make up a destination that responds very well to the tastes of the French public<\/strong>, and we want to make this known”.<\/p>\n

This year, the Provincial Council and the City Council<\/strong> are developing a powerful tourism promotion campaign with the slogan Come for a trip<\/strong> in order to make Alava and Vitoria-Gasteiz known among travel agencies, the media and the end public in several European countries and, in this way, recover foreign visitors after the end of the restrictions on mobility and contribute to reactivating the local tourism<\/strong> sector.<\/p>\n
