The 110th edition of the Tour de France will start for the second time in the <strong>Basque Country<\/strong>, after its departure in 1992 from Donostia\/San Sebasti\u00e1n. From <strong>1 to 3 July<\/strong> 2023, the cycling race will cross the Basque Country in 3 stages and will start in <strong>Bilbao<\/strong>, chosen as the starting point for the Grand Depart and the first finish line.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/basquemagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/5d3ee0da0ee694990834a03c-lo.jpg\" alt=\"5d3ee0da0ee694990834a03c-lo\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"568\" width=\"970\" title=\"5d3ee0da0ee694990834a03c-lo\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n<h2>\n\t\tFirst stage\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>A demanding <strong>185 km<\/strong> circular stage through Bizkaia with more than 3,320 m of accumulated height gain.<\/p>\n<p>The route will link the Cantabrian coast and the <strong>Urdaibai Biosphere<\/strong> Reserve, crossing emblematic places such as Gernika-Lumo. The peloton will have to overcome the punctuating peaks of <strong>Laukiz<\/strong>, San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, Morga, Vivero and Pike Bidea. This first stage will be the most mountainous route ever presented on an opening day of the grand tour de France.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/basquemagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/c9de9.jpg\" alt=\"c9de9\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"647\" width=\"970\" title=\"c9de9\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n<h2>\n\t\tSecond stage\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>The second stage will start in <strong>Vitoria-Gasteiz<\/strong> and finish in <strong>Donostia\/San Sebasti\u00e1n<\/strong>. The second 210 km route, no less demanding than the first, will take the peloton over the <strong>Udana<\/strong>, Aztiria and Alkiza passes to tackle Jaizkibel, which will be tackled on the opposite side to the usual route of the famous Cl\u00e1sica de San Sebasti\u00e1n. 10 km at an average gradient of 4.6%.<\/p>\n<p>Around 25 kilometres will pass through <strong>Goierri<\/strong>, a region made up of 18 villages, most of them with less than 1,000 inhabitants, with a privileged natural charm, between the <strong>Aralar<\/strong> Natural Park and the Aizkorri-Aratz Natural Park.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/basquemagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/3297853-67437328-2560-1440.jpg\" alt=\"3297853-67437328-2560-1440\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"675\" width=\"1200\" title=\"3297853-67437328-2560-1440\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n<h2>\n\t\tThird stage\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>The third and final stage will start in <strong>Amorebieta-Etxano<\/strong> and finish in Baiona.\u00a0 The first stages of the route will take place in <strong>Durangaldea<\/strong>. The peloton will pass through the Trabakua, Milloi, Itziar and Benta peaks.
