The deputy Jabier Larra\u00f1aga<\/strong> also announced that the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa will strengthen its support for the counties, at the ‘Challenges of Tourism in Gipuzkoa’<\/strong> Congress celebrated in Renteria, which brought together more than 200 professionals<\/strong> and agents from the tourism sector in Gipuzkoa.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"GipuzkoaTurismo---Aranzazu-\"\n\t

More than 200 professionals and agents related to the tourism sector in Gipuzkoa<\/strong> took part in the third edition of the “Challenges of Tourism in Gipuzkoa” Congress, organised by the Provincial Council at the Lekuona Fabrika<\/strong> cultural centre in Errenteria<\/strong>. Prestigious experts shared their views on the challenges and transformations facing the sector in the current context with representatives of regional agencies<\/strong> and tourist offices, different associations, professionals and companies, as well as students of tourism-related studies from the University of Deusto<\/strong> and the Zubiri Manteo vocational training centre.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"Cloister\n\t

The arrivals and overnight stays recorded in the period from March to September 2022 set an all-time record, surpassing those observed in the same months of 2019, prior to COVID-19.<\/strong><\/p>\n\t

Through presentations and dialogues between different professionals, key issues for the future such as new business models, travel habits<\/strong>, sustainability<\/strong> and digital transformation were discussed, with the aim of ensuring that Gipuzkoa maintains and strengthens its position as a benchmark destination<\/strong> in the national and international tourism industry. All of this, against the backdrop of the excellent results<\/strong> that the sector has been obtaining this year in the territory, as the entries and overnight stays registered in the period from March to September 2022 set an all-time record<\/strong>, surpassing those observed in the same months of 2019, prior to COVID-19.<\/p>\n

The institutional opening was attended by the Mayoress of Errenteria, Aizpea Otaegi<\/strong>, and the Deputy for Economic Promotion, Tourism and the Rural Environment, Jabier Larra\u00f1aga<\/strong>, who gave a positive assessment of the good results. “Not only in quantitative terms, but also because this growth has been balanced<\/strong>, with a good performance of all the counties and types of accommodation, one of our priority objectives. And because we are coming from a pandemic that affected this sector like no other, in the face of which you have shown enormous resilience<\/em>“, he explained. “This rapid recovery<\/strong> was no coincidence, but rather the fruit of what has been sown over many years<\/strong>, of much shared work to make Gipuzkoa an international benchmark tourist destination, with a sustainable and quality model<\/strong><\/em>“.<\/p>\n\t
