The 10th of January<\/strong> marks the first centenary of the birth of the artist and sculptor from San Sebastian, Eduardo Chillida<\/strong>. To commemorate the anniversary the Eduardo Chillida – Pilar Belzunce Foundation<\/strong> has prepared a full and multidisciplinary programme made up of exhibitions, publications, audiovisual, educational and academic projects, among others.<\/p>\r\n “This programme, which is alive, celebrates and disseminates the work of Eduardo Chillida<\/strong>. It is an opportunity to disseminate not only his work, but also his values, sensitivity and contributions to the history of contemporary art”, says Luis Chillida<\/strong>, son of the sculptor, president of the Eduardo Chillida – Pilar Belzunce Foundation and member of the organising committee for the centenary together with Susana Chillida<\/strong>, the artist’s daughter, filmmaker and writer; Mikel Chillida<\/strong>, the artist’s grandson and director of development at Chillida Leku; and Mireia Massagu\u00e9<\/strong>, director of Chillida Leku<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n Under the slogan Eduardo Chillida 100 years. Meeting place<\/strong>, the centenary highlights the artist’s public work, represented in 45 sculptures<\/strong> that have turned public spaces in cities such as Donostia-San Sebasti\u00e1n, Madrid, Valladolid, Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Berlin, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Dallas and Washington into meeting places for society, showing that Chillida was a ‘creator of places’ and exemplifying the values of his work.<\/p>\r\n The central core of the programme will take place between the end of 2024 and 2025<\/strong>, although it will be extended until 2026, with several exhibitions that will look at the different facets of the artist. Naturally, Chillida Leku, the most intimate and personal place that Eduardo Chillida created to house his work, will have several exhibitions and activities that will celebrate the figure and work of its creator.<\/p>\r\n Locally, the San Telmo Museum<\/strong>, Tabakalera<\/strong> International Centre for Contemporary Culture, the Balenciaga<\/strong> Museum, the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum<\/strong> and Artium<\/strong> will be hosting both individual and group exhibitions over the next few months.<\/p>\r\n In addition, Chillida Leku will be presenting an exhibition made up of pieces from the Telef\u00f3nica Collection<\/strong> from the telecommunications company, which is also celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. On a national level, Hauser & Wirth Menorca, the MACBA in Barcelona, La Pedrera, the National Sculpture Museum in Valladolid and the Cultural House in Avil\u00e9s are joining in the celebration with several exhibitions that aim to bring their legacy closer to the public.<\/p>\r\n![\"Eduardo](\"https:\/\/basquemagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/3.jpg\" "\\"3\\"")
