The suspension bridge<\/strong>, which links Getxo with Portugalete, is a unique piece of architecture and engineering in the combination of two techniques: a fixed structure and a mechanical translation system<\/strong>. The design, patent and construction management between 1890<\/strong> and 1893<\/strong> was the responsibility of the Biscayan architect Alberto Palacio Elissague.<\/p>\r\n
