More than 100,000 people visited the museums of Alava

A total of 107,059 people passed through the Museums and Sites of the Alava Museum Network in 2022, i.e. the BIBAT, Fine Arts, Armoury, Natural Sciences, Iruña-Veleia and La Hoya.
Only three more times had the number of visitors exceeded 100,000, specifically in the three years prior to the pandemic, in a clearly upward trend. This figure is 17.1% higher than in 2021, when 88,797 people visited the network. In 2020 it was 55,657.
As always, the figures for April (10,548), July (9,898) and especially August (the latter being the busiest of the year with 12,754 visitors) stand out, but the number of visitors in the last quarter of the year is particularly noteworthy, with over 10,000 visitors/month in all of them (last year none of the three months achieved this figure, and in 2019 only the last two months). Specifically with 10,432, 11,291 and 10,737 visits respectively.
"We started the year hoping that it would be the year of definitive recovery, and taking into account that the first quarter still had some complications, we can say that we have achieved it. These are successful figures, very positive and to be celebrated, as there is a clear recovery of interest in the activity and in cultural heritage," says the regional deputy for Culture and Sport, Ana Del Val.
"For 2023 we hope to consolidate and improve these figures and, why not, get closer to that historic record of 2019. To this end, we would like to remind the people of Alava, and those who visit us, that any day is a good excuse to 'drop into our network' as our slogan says, because our museums are full of secrets and treasures that are worth discovering", concludes Del Val.
