A spectacular environment where the greenway is the backbone of a vast territory that has unique areas such as the Aralar mountain range, the Malloas, the forests of Artikutza or the mountains of Leitzalarrea. A place that also preserves the flavor and tradition of a millenary culture that offers beautiful expressions in its language, farmhouses, civil and religious heritage, gastronomy, rural sports, festivities, etc. An excellent opportunity to get to know the green and mountainous north of Navarre. Welcome!

An ideal way to enjoy this environment is a bike ride or walk along the Plazaola greenway. 55 km of track between Pamplona-Iruña and Leitza practically flat, which runs through spectacular scenery.
The Uitzi tunnel, almost 3 km long, is the longest greenway tunnel in Europe. In addition, the route continues through Gipuzkoa and reaches Donostia-San Sebastián.

The caves of Mendukilo, in Astitz, are one of the jewels of the place, with guided tours to the bowels of the Sierra de Aralar. In addition, in the surroundings, there are marked trails that allow you to enjoy incredible landscapes and txokos.
The local history and heritage has two emblematic places: the sanctuary of Aralar with guided tours; and the Peru Harri Park in Leitza, with visits by Iñaki Perurena. A special and magical place to learn about the tradition of Basque rural sports, mythology, the Basque language, etc.; all in a farmhouse and a fascinating natural environment.
The streets of the urban centers of Goizueta, Leitza, Lekunberri, Irurtzun or Areso are ideal for strolling with an extraordinary cast of typical houses and other singular buildings; and don't forget to visit any of the villages in the valleys of Araitz, Larraun or Imotz.

To discover some of the gastronomic delights produced in the Plazaola-Mendialdea area, visit the various local markets where you can learn about and taste products in situ with guided tours.
The offer of lodgings and restaurants is magnificent in the whole area. For more information and to buy local products you can go to the Tourist Office of Lekunberri (948 50 72 04 / oit.lekunberri@navarra.es) or from the Plazaola website (www.plazaola.eus) and RRSS.
