The medieval ‘almond’ of Vitoria-Gasteiz, in detail

Play Video

The Montehermoso Palace and the old Water Reservoir are synonymous with culture and unique spaces in the medieval 'almond' of the capital of Vitoria-Gasteiz. In this video from the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council we get to know the ins and outs of these two enclaves of the city.

Located at the top of the Medieval Quarter, the Montehermoso Palace was built at the beginning of the 16th century. It is a Renaissance palace to which the old Vitoria-Gasteiz Water Deposit, built in 1885, is attached underground.

After several refurbishments, both the main building and the old water tank are now major landmarks: the palace has become a cultural centre, a space for the production, exhibition and dissemination of contemporary art and thought; and the water tank has become a special space for hosting exhibitions.

On the City Council's website there is a 360º tour of the interior of the Montehermoso Cultural Centre so that you can enjoy a visit if you are unable to go.
