The Fantastic Film Festival - FANT, organised by the Bilbao City Council, will celebrate its 29th edition from the 5th to the 13th of May. Friday the 5th will kick off with a gala at the Campos Eliseos Theatre. This event will be directed by the Bilbao stage director Álex Gerediaga, who also directed last year's gala and the MAX Awards 2021 gala.




Closing ceremony with Belén Rueda
On Friday 12 May, the closing gala of FANT will be held in the Sala BB, where the ESTRELLA DEL FANTÁSTICO award will be presented, the Festival's main prize, which on this occasion will go to Belén Rueda, actress, star of films such as "El Orfanato" and "Los Ojos de Julia", among many others.
The film chosen to be screened at this gala, which will also be directed by Álex Gerediaga, is "Incredible, but true", a Franco-Belgian co-production, directed by Quentin Dupieux, a director who will also participate in the Official Selection with the feature film "Fumar povoca tos" ("Smoking causes coughing").
Official Section
The Official Competition Section at FANT stands out once again this year for its diverse and varied programme. The selection includes 18 films, all of them premieres in Bilbao, but one will also be a European premiere, "Mount Chiak" (2023, COR, Kim Sun-ung) and two will be national premieres: "Melchior The Apothecary" (2022, EST, Elmo Nüganen) and "No Dogs or Italians Allowed" (2022, FRA/IT/BEL/BEL/POR/SWI, Alain Ughetto).
