Alava brings its charm to Madrid and Barcelona

The Provincial Council of Alava and the City Council of Vitoria-Gasteiz take their tourist offer to the big time, touring Madrid and Barcelona in a thematic truck full of charm.

This week, Alava's tourism offer is being taken to the heart of Madrid, Barcelona and Zaragoza in a truck themed with spectacular images of its natural, heritage and food and wine resources. This vehicle, which will later visit Bilbao and San Sebastian, aims to promote local tourism and attract travelers in search of unique experiences.

The regional deputy for Employment, Commerce and Tourism, Cristina González, together with the councilor for Economic Promotion, Employment, Tourism and Commerce, Maria Nanclares, explained that the campaign aims to "seduce the final public" by directly showing the nature, heritage and food and wine offer of Alava. In addition, the destination will be presented to travel agencies, tour operators and specialized press.

The truck will be present on March 4 and 5 at the outdoor parking lot of the the bullring of Las Ventas in Madrid, on Wednesday and Thursday, March 6 and 7 together with the Arco del Triunfo and Ciudadela Park in Barcelona, and on Friday in José Antonio Labordeta Park in Zaragoza.

The trailer of the truck is decor with images of the essential from ÁlavaThe city of Vitoria-Gasteiz has many attractions, such as the Cathedral of Santa María, the Wall of Vitoria-Gasteiz, the Salt Valley, the Gorbeia Natural Park, the Alabesa Rioja, the Nervión waterfall, medieval villages and outstanding events such as the festivities of the Virgen Blanca and the Jazz Festival.

In addition to the truck, a tourist information point will be set up to promote details about various proposals to explore and enjoy the province, including historical routes, enotorusimo, TOP experiences and more.

Cristina González stresses that the domestic market continues to be fundamental for tourism in Alava, with 70% of Spanish visitors in 2023. For her part, María Nanclares highlights the importance of the collaboration between the Provincial Council and the City Council to promote the attractions of the region.

During the campaign, presentations will be made inside the truck accompanied by tastings of products from Alava. In addition, a meeting is planned with officials from the Tourism and Trade Department of the Barcelona City Council.

This itinerant initiative, which will be carried out in spring in Bilbao and San Sebastian, follows in the line of the campaign developed in 2023 through a themed bus that toured several Spanish cities. Promotional actions in strategic European markets are also planned for the second half of the year.
