During 2022, almost 2.5 million pizzas were consumed in the Basque Country according to Telepizza data, 7% of the total consumed in Spain, which reached 34.5 million pizzas.
The queen of pizzas in the Basque Country is still the Barbacoa, with more than 300,000 Telepizzas consumed in 2022, followed by the speciality Carbonara and the Four Cheesse to complete the podium of honour.
We Basques love sport and pizza. Proof of this is that the final of the Champions League was one of the days with the highest pizza consumption in the Basque Country, along with Halloween night.
When is it held?
The celebration of this date dates back to the 10th century in Naples, where it was created, but it gained much more momentum over the years. In the United States, 9 February was established as National Pizza Day, but over the years the date has become increasingly popular.

National Cheese Pizza Day (5 September)
National Pepperoni Pizza Day (20 September)
National Sausage Pizza Month (11 October)
