The “Enbaxadores” of San Sebastian around the world
Seven professionals from different areas of the city have been appointed new ambassadors of San Sebastian, within the framework of the Enbaxadore Programme, promoted by the Donostia San Sebastian Tourism Convention Bureau and the Kursaal Conference Centre.
The aim is to publicly recognise and support the work and efforts of these professionals in attracting congresses to the city, with the important repercussions that this has for our destination, both economically and in terms of generating and disseminating knowledge in our environment.
This year the following professionals will be recognised for the congresses held in 2022: Yago Torre-Enciso Enciso - International Conference on Ocean Energy (ICOE) & Ocean Energy Europe (OEE) -, Marcos Suárez García - International Conference on Ocean Energy (ICOE) & Ocean Energy Europe (OEE) -, Jesús Ibarluzea Maurolagoitia - Annual Scientific Meeting of the Spanish Society of Epidemiology (SEE) -, Borja Mugabure Bujedo - 28th Annual Meeting of the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Management (ESRA) -, Carlos Yárnoz Ruiz - 28th Annual Meeting of the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Management (ESRA), Iñaki Aizpuru Zubitur - Cilect Congress - Centre International de Liaison des Ecoles de Cinema et de Television - and Pablo García Astrain - Europan 16, Forum of Cities and Juries -.
Impact on congress activity
The Enbaxadore programme aims to recognise the work of those people thanks to whom Donostia San Sebastian has become the venue for important national and international events. These congresses reinforce the positioning of the city as a benchmark destination for innovation and development at a national and international level.
Congresses are the segment with the greatest growth potential within the meetings industry, and an activity that provides great value in quantitative terms, an economic driver for the territory. In 2022, 155 events (congresses, conferences and conventions) were held, of which 60% were international.

Morcheeba, Morgan, Gatibu, Sylvie Kreusch, Oracle Sisters, Verde Prato, Messura, Germán Salto, Tito Ramirez and the djs Tangerine Sistas, Mute All and Father Alien complete the musical line-up of the festival that will be held from 18 to 20 August in Cuadrilla de Laguardia – Rioja Alavesa.
López de Heredia, the birdhouse of Haro
