The Oma Forest, Ibarrola’s great jewel, recovers its splendour
The Oma Forest can now be visited until 11 September by means of guided tours and by prior appointment, by calling 944 65 16 57. The Provincial Council of Bizkaia will organise two visits from Monday to Sunday mornings, at 10:30 and 12:30.
The Bosque de Oma is immersed in the first phase of the transfer of the work to the new location. This painting process can be seen at first hand through the guided tours organised by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia. This work allows the continuity of Agustín Ibarrola's work to be maintained.
This project is the result of the exhaustive research and re-reading of Ibarrola's work carried out by the multidisciplinary team led by Bazeta and commissioned by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, and will allow the presentation of a work that reflects the artist's original idea, as some of the groups will take on a larger dimension, something that Agustín Ibarrola was unable to do in his day. The Forest of Oma will be complete, it will house all the documented artistic ensembles that have existed in The Forest.
The Forest of Oma is not a replica, it is the transfer of Agustín Ibarrola's idea to a new, larger canvas, in which it once again comes to the surface with recovered and more extensive artistic ensembles. This innovative, complex and at the same time exciting and important project for Bizkaia has already begun to materialise. Agustín Ibarrola's idea continues.
In addition to a more complete vision of the artistic project, the opportunity has been taken to act on aspects such as the management and maintenance of the Forest to ensure its sustainability; accessibility both physically and through better connectivity; dissemination with the incorporation of a new brochure and a new website or the incorporation of guided tours and the drafting of new content; emergency management, as well as the availability of a larger space that will allow the thousands of visitors expected to visit the Forest every year to be accommodated without any problems. And all of this will improve visits to the forest and help visitors to soak up the magic of Ibarrola's work.
