Although our Pyrenees are humble in terms of altitude, in Navarre we are very lucky that almost every year it snows in our highest valleys, offering us postcard-perfect landscapes. In the two cross-country ski resorts - Irati and Belagua - we are already waiting for you...
The crunch of untouched snow is one of the most special sounds of winter. That unique moment when you get out of the car and the mountains, like giants covered in sugar, welcome you with their radiant landscape.
In the Aralar mountains, in the Urbasa and Andia mountains and in Orreaga/Roncesvalles and in the Pyrenean valleys of Aezkoa, Salazar and Roncal, it is a rare year when there is not a good snowfall.
And as the weather is so unpredictable, you have to pay attention because sometimes the altitude drops and you may wake up in your rural accommodation in the Baztan or Ultzama Valley covered in a blanket of white.
In the two cross-country ski resorts in Navarre you will enjoy the peace and quiet of a natural environment that is hard to forget.
Navarre has two resorts that specialise in cross-country skiing. A modality that allows you to exercise while enjoying the beauty of the snow-covered Navarrese Pyrenees in peace and quiet.
Irati-Abodi Mountain Centre
Located in the Salazar Valley, in the heart of the Irati Forest at an altitude of 1,300 metres, the natural spectacle is guaranteed. It has three easy slopes with a total length of 22 kilometres for cross-country skiing and a 16-kilometre slope for those with more experience. It also offers an information service on routes, snow equipment hire, a café-bar-restaurant and car park.
Nordic skiing in Larra-Belagua
Located in the easternmost part of the Navarre Pyrenees, the resort is divided into two sectors:
El Ferial: where you will find the main building with first aid station, ski school, equipment hire, bar, restaurant, shop, lockers, spa area. It has 16 km of cross-country ski trails and snowshoe trails. La Contienda: where you will find a small building with a cafeteria, first-aid post and 5 km of cross-country trails.
