A hotel in Vitoria, in the “oscars” of sustainable tourism

The London-based collection of independent and sustainable hotels in Europe, Quartz Inn Hotels, has announced the winners of the 2nd edition of the European Sustainable Tourism Awards "GrINN Awards 2023". The awards recognise the outstanding sustainability efforts of hundreds of hotels and tourism businesses from 51 European countries, competing in 100 categories.
The Kora Green City hotel, located in the Plaza del Renacimiento in Vitoria - Gasteiz, has been awarded as the Best Sustainable Aparthotel in Europe, thanks to its outstanding initiatives in sustainability and care for the environment. This accommodation prides itself on being one of the most sustainable in the world, achieving an 80% reduction in the building's energy consumption through the use of renewable energies, low-energy lighting and support for the local economy and 0 km products, among other measures.
Promoting sustainable practices
The jury, composed of leading figures from the tourism sector, stressed the importance of continuing to promote good environmental practices in the industry and recognising companies' sustainability efforts. The line-up included Branislava Grbic, Sales Manager at Rosewood Hotels Group; Jolanta Dziewit, Director of Sustainability at iVisitKrakow.com; Francisco Rodriguez Mora, Head Chef at The Trout at Tadpole Bridge; Katie Ellam, CEO of Book Eco Hotels; Roeland Verhamme, CEO of Expect Me and Ignacio Merino, Head of Strategic Partnerships at Freetour.com.
