Álava takes its tourist offer to Galicia

This week, Álava and Vitoria-Gasteiz are publicising their tourism offer to the citizens of Santiago de Compostela and A Coruña by means of a themed bus with spectacular images of the territory's natural, heritage and oenogatronomic resources and an information point located in the centre of both cities.

This initiative is part of the tourism promotion campaign that the Provincial Council of Alava and the City Council of Vitoria-Gasteiz are developing this year in the national market. This bus will soon tour other Spanish cities such as Oviedo, Seville, Malaga, Cadiz, Madrid and Barcelona with a programme that will include presentations to travel agencies and local press.
The Provincial Councillor for the Promotion of Employment, Trade and Tourism, Cristina González, presented Álava as a tourist destination to Galician travel agencies and media today in Santiago de Compostela in two events held inside the bus. The presentations included the tasting of pintxos made with products from Alava, sweets, wine, txakoli and cider.

"We are making our offer of nature, heritage and food and wine known to the final public in Galicia in order to seduce them into visiting us, but we are also presenting the destination to travel agencies, tour operators and the media. The aim is to attract travellers to Alava for Easter, summer and the rest of the year", explains Cristina González.
González stressed that the national market is the main driver of tourism in Alava - 71% of those who visited Alava in 2022 were Spanish - and indicated that the Provincial Council and the City Council are therefore making "a major effort through this campaign to build the loyalty of these visitors and at the same time attract new national travellers".

The bus, the central element of the campaign, is vinyl-covered with spectacular images of some of the main resources of Alava: Santa María Cathedral, Vitoria-Gasteiz City Wall, Salt Valley, Gorbeia Natural Park, Rioja Alavesa, Salto del Nervión, medieval villages, inland beaches, Alava's gastronomy and events such as the Virgen Blanca festivities and the Jazz Festival.
The interior space of the vehicle can be extended once parked in a matter of seconds by means of a hydraulic system and is equipped for presentations of the destination to the media and travel agencies, and for holding work meetings.
Tourist information point
This 'showcase' of Alava is going to tour different Spanish cities to publicise its nature, heritage and food and wine offer, as well as the attractive programme of cultural and sporting events in Vitoria-Gasteiz and other towns in Alava. The tour stops this week in Santiago de Compostela and A Coruña, and next week in Oviedo.
"At the end of March we will also present the destination in Seville, Malaga and Cadiz, and later we will be present in Madrid and Barcelona. This relationship includes the two main Spanish cities, cities with direct air connections with Foronda airport and cities where we were not present in previous campaigns," says Cristina González.
