San Sebastian presents its tourism model 2023-2027
Last Friday, at Chillida Leku, the presentation of this initiative took place, which aims to define tourism in the capital of Gipuzkoa in the coming years. A new tourism model, based on sustainability and participation, which will help us to achieve a friendlier tourism for everyone.
In recent years we have experienced profound changes at a global level that have consequences for the tourism sector in Donostia / San Sebastián. We face several challenges: recovering from the coronavirus crisis, aligning our activity with sustainable development, managing the climate emergency and maintaining the city's prosperity.
Tourist activity can affect many areas of the destination, which is why it is necessary to address it from a cross-cutting approach, taking into account areas of management such as sustainability, the preservation of culture and the socio-economic development of the local community.
This new Visit Bizi plan is a continuation of the previous tourism plan, but with a greater focus on the management of the city as a tourist destination; a plan that stops looking at visitor growth figures, and focuses on promoting measures to find a balance and well-being between citizens, visitors and the sector.
