Bizkaia’s provincial museums await you this Christmas
Arrantzaleen Museoa, the Encartada Fabrika-Museoa, Museo del Txakoli-Txakolingunea, the El Pobal Ironworks, Arkeologi Museoa, Santimamiñe, Euskal Herria Museoa, Sala Rekalde and Sala Ondare have organised a full programme for this Christmas with more than twenty workshops and activities aimed at all audiences.
Arkeologi Museoa has children's workshops for young historians and archaeologists. On the 27th in the workshop 'Decorate yourself' they will learn about the ornaments used by our ancestors. On the 28th of December, with their participation in 'Roman Games', they will discover the ways of having fun that were common in Roman times and on the 29th of December, with the workshop 'On the Attack', they will learn what the fortresses of the Middle Ages in Bizkaia were like.
For its part, the month of December at the Arrantzaleen Museoa will begin with the opening of the exhibition 'Bermeo Erdi aroan' on December 13th and the series of talks about it. There will also be a presentation of the book 'La pesca a vela en Bermeo' by Aingeru Astui on 22 December. And among the children's activities, the 'drawing course' for boys and girls will take place on 17 December and will consist of the design of a large mural. The museum will also have a storyteller who will tell Christmas stories.
The Encartada Fabrika-Museoa will offer children the chance to use different materials to create a winter landscape. They will be able to combine this activity with participation in the Christmas txokos dedicated to making different handicrafts.
At the Txakoli Museum - Txakolingunea, visitors will be able to enjoy the Txakomic exhibition, and on 17 December, the Santo Tomás tasting, which will consist of tasting three txakolis from Bizkaia paired with three different talos. Among the activities for the little ones, on the 30th of December there will be a storyteller with music 'Din, dan, don Eguberri On!' by Sorgina-txirulina.
The El Pobal Forge, in addition to the usual guided tours of its iron and forge complex and visits with a full demonstration in the forge on 23 and 30 December, has children's workshops such as the talo workshop on Wednesday 27 December, the bread workshop on 28 December and the 'Playing at the blacksmith's house' workshop on 29 and 30 December and 5 January. In addition, visitors to the museum can enjoy the diorama 'The Universe of Olentzero inside the El Pobal forge', which this year includes a recreation of the Port of Lavalle, all created by the artist Juan Miguel Cortés.
For its part, the Euskal Herria Museoa has prepared a Christmas programme with children's workshops and a series of visits to discover the sculptures housed in the Park of the Peoples of Europe. After the visit, the children will make a sculpture of themselves.
Sala Ondare, this December, continues its commitment to its guided tours and in particular the talk on 12 December by the curator Bernardo I. García de la Torre and the exhibition 'Architectures for cinema in Bilbao'. Christmas workshops have also been programmed for the youngest visitors, including a trip back in time to discover magical places,
Sala Rekalde has a very complete programme with a guided tour of the exhibition 'Varietés' on the 14th by the artist Eduardo Sourrouille, who will explain the works on display. There will also be a family workshop and the 'Laino artean' proposal that connects art and technology for young people, both on the 16th of December. On 26 and 27 December and 2 and 3 January, family portraits will be taken in the Christmas workshops. And finally, with the 'Christmas on the road' workshop on 28 and 29 December, youngsters will be experimenting with new materials while practising English.
