Esférica Rioja Alavesa is much more than a music festival. It is a unique experience to enjoy a magical territory in the heart of Álava. A four-day event in which music, the land, art and gastronomy come together to activate all the senses while visiting unique enclaves in the Cuadrilla of Laguardia-Rioja Alavesa. Esférica lands in Rioja Alavesa for its great heritage and natural wealth. Its landscapes, its wines, the historical richness of its villages and a great tradition make Rioja Alavesa a territory full of values. Watered by the Ebro and protected by the Sierra de Cantabria, it is one of the most important wine-growing areas in Spain, where we can find everything from small family wineries with hundreds of years of history to large production wineries and buildings of great architectural value.
The Provincial Council of Alava, through its Department for the Promotion of Employment, Trade and Tourism, as well as the Basque Government through Basquetour and the Cuadrilla of Laguardia-Rioja Alavesa, are collaborating in promoting this first edition of a festival that over the next few years aspires to become a national benchmark in terms of new models of territorial promotion.
Music, art, land and gastronomy
The programme has its own identity and seeks the avant-garde, exclusivity and the perfect marriage with the moment and the environment through top national and international artists: Morcheeba, Depedro, Tulsa, Josh Rouse, Delafé, Mafalda, Melenas, St Woods, Zetak, Alberto & García, Os amigos dos músicos, Amorante and Best Boy will be in charge of providing the experience with a soundtrack of exceptional quality.
Three days of concerts on eight stages in unique locations, where music will merge with space. The Balcón de La Rioja, the Torre Abacial in Laguardia, La Póveda in Lapuebla de Labarca, Bodega Villa-Lucía, Bodega Valdelana or the Plaza del Árbol de Guernika in Villabuena de Álava and the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción in Elvillar are some of the venues chosen for this 2021 edition.
Seeking to unite tradition and the avant-garde, Esférica Rioja Alavesa will have one of its main venues in the Ysios Winery, located at the foot of Sierra Cantabria and designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava, where concerts will be held, there will be gastronomic spaces, wine experiences and an artistic action organised by the Performa Cooperative.
Gastronomy is a fundamental pillar of Esférica Rioja Alavesa, as a sign of the region's cultural identity. For this reason, the staging takes on special relevance; both professionals and the public will enjoy an innovative, inspiring and high quality experience. The purpose is none other than to savour the region, highlighting the value of km 0 products.
All this paired with the wines of one of the most important wine regions on the national scene, Rioja Alavesa. The delight comes from the opportunity to connect, with all the senses, with the whole process, from the vine to the tasting. All of this is complemented by an open and transversal dialogue with other wine regions, building knowledge and identity as indelible memories.

Conscious and sustainable leisure
Conscious and sustainable leisure, which leaves its mark on the spectator, but not on the surrounding environment. To reduce the environmental impact, the stages will be integrated into the landscape, lines will be set up between them to reduce the influx of private vehicles, and waste recycling actions will be coordinated, with the aim of favouring the discreet passage of the festival through Rioja Alavesa.
PlanPlanner, Pernod Ricard España's experience platform, is sponsoring this festival, which will have Bodegas Ysios as its nerve centre and absolute protagonist. Located at the foot of Sierra Cantabria and designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava, this avant-garde boutique winery produces the exceptional Ysios wines and will provide an unrivalled setting for different musical, gastronomic and cultural experiences.
Esférica also has the collaboration of Cervezas Alhambra, confirming once again the brewery's passion for music, innovation and experiences that are carefully integrated with the landscape.
