2023, the year to live Bilbao Bizkaia
Bilbao Bizkaia is facing a very special year thanks to the Grand Départ of the Tour de France. The peloton of this competition will cross a territory that has been the scene of film productions and that has as one of its permanent attractions its unusual coastline.
The coast, seafaring identity
In the 150km that separate Ondarroa from Muskiz, this coast offers an endless number of attractive possibilities: visit the beautiful little fishing villages, stroll along the spectacular coastline, participate in the traditions that are lived with such devotion, practice all kinds of sports, buy and taste delicious food, be surprised by the charm of the Flysch Bizkaia, a treasure of millions of years old... A film territory
Film lovers will discover a varied and quality offer in Bilbao Bizkaia. No matter the genre or the camera angle, if cinema is your passion, you are in luck. Here you can relive mythical scenes from internationally renowned films: from Rocadragon Castle, recreated in San Juan de Gaztelugatxe for 'Game of Thrones'; to Laga beach, in the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve (location for the film 'Akelarre'); or Alameda de Mazarredo street in Bilbao, where 007 agent Pierce Brosnan fell from a fifth floor in the film 'The World Is Never Enough'.
A year for the history
The biggest cycling competition in the world arrives in Bilbao Bizkaia on 1 July 2023: the Grand Départ Pays Basque 2023 - Tour de France will cross a land where the values of effort, commitment and dedication make up a thousand-year-old tradition and are the flagship of a fan base known all over the world for its spirit and loyalty.
