The Provincial Councillor for the Promotion of Employment, Trade and Tourism, Cristina González, and the Provincial Councillor for Road Infrastructures and Mobility, Carlos Ibarlucea, presented this publication, which will be available in the next few days in all tourist offices in Alava and in Alavabus vehicles.

González and Ibarlucea explained that this initiative has two main objectives: to encourage public transport for leisure and tourism activities as an alternative to private vehicles and thus move towards a more sustainable mobility; and to promote domestic tourism and provide travellers arriving in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz by bus, train or plane with practical information to get to know the whole of the Historical Territory.

"This guide is an invitation for the people of Alava to enjoy the nature and heritage of our territory using Alavabus and provides very interesting ideas and plans. Ideas and plans such as completing a linear section of the Wine and Fish Route, impossible to do in a private vehicle; discovering the best Romanesque architecture in Alava or our unique Salt Valley; discovering the medieval villages of Ayala, Montaña and Rioja Alavesa; and visiting our wineries", said Cristina González.

The provincial deputy stressed that 'Discover Alava by public transport' is also a "very useful" tool for the tens of thousands of people who arrive in Vitoria-Gasteiz by public transport and wish to enjoy all the province's attractions. "One of the objectives of our tourism strategy is to bring visitors to all the counties of Alava so that they can benefit from the positive impact of tourism on employment and economic activity. And this initiative helps to do just that".
