Basque sport ‘herri kirolak’ returns to the streets of Bilbao

Más sobre:
Bilbao City Council has organised three Herri Kirolak (basque sports) exhibitions until the end of the year as part of its "Bilbao Altxatuz" programme. The first will be on Saturday 24th September in Zorrotza, the second on 2nd October in Deusto and the last on 27th November in the Plaza de la Casilla.

These sessions complete the calendar planned for 2022, which began in May and which has already enabled eight exhibitions to be held in Arangoiti, Indautxu, Txurdinaga, Abusu, Santutxu, San Inazio and Ametzola.
"Bilbao Altxatuz" is the result of the collaboration between Bilbao Kirolak and the Bizkaia Federation of Herri Kirolak and reinforces the commitment of the City Council to promote rural sports in Bilbao, because "as well as being sports, they are customs and tradition, and form part of our Basque cultural wealth".

Three open air exhibitions are planned until the end of the year; the first will be on Saturday 24th September in Zorrotza, the second on 2nd October in Deusto and the last on 27th November in the Plaza de la Casilla
Bilbao sport strategy
The "Bilbao Altxatuz" programme is part of the Bilbao Sport Strategy, specifically in the first of its axes: Bilbao Kirolak Community, which aims to energise the sporting ecosystem through collaboration with other institutions, entities or the citizens themselves. The promotion of the Herri Kirolak (basque sports) is one of the actions and commitments established in this document that guides the sports policy of Bilbao City Council.
