The Jury has chosen 6 images from among the 373 entries submitted: Dancing with Marijaia, After 40 years we are still afloat, Our fiestas, Txupinera and Pregonera, Kooloreak and Bihotzez. Voting will take place from 19 to 25 June, using a mixed system: in person at the Abando Municipal District Centre and online via the municipal website. The Jury's assessment will also be taken into account. Aste Nagusia will take place from 19 to 27 August.
Bilbao is counting down the days until the 43rd edition of Aste Nagusia begins. The first step is to choose the poster that will be the image of this year's festivities. To this end, the selection of the six finalists has begun, who will compete to be the poster announcing the Semana Grande, which will be held from 19 to 27 August.
The people of Bilbao will be able to vote for their favourite from 19 to 25 June, using a mixed system: in person, at the Abando Municipal District Centre -c/ Barrainkua, 5- from 08:30 to 21:30 hours, or online, through the municipal website.
Graphic design professionals and amateurs from different backgrounds took part in the competition. On this occasion, 373 entries were submitted, 34 more than in the last edition. Of these, 111 belonged to people from Bilbao and 84 came from the rest of the Basque Country. At national level, 157 designs have been collected and 21 come from abroad: Italy, Bolivia, Buenos Aires, Portugal, Russia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Ecuador, China, Austria and Brazil.
It should be noted that, this year, most of the designs are from participants who do not work in the design and advertising sector, 194 in total.
Voting and citizens' choice
The first selection of the finalist posters was made by the Jury made up of three representatives of the Municipal Corporation: the Councillor for Festivals and Chair of the Festivals Commission, Itziar Urtasun, and the councillors Asier Abaunza and Bruno Zubizarreta; Unai Euba, member of Bilboko Konpartsak; Alicia Fernández, Director of Sala Rekalde; Alberto Salcedo, Doctor of Fine Arts and lecturer at BilbaoArte; Igor Siguero, Journalist at EiTB; Matar Kane Tall, representative of Koop SF 34 and Kamanga Influencers; and Cristina Guezuraga, Creative Director of the Sirope Agency.
Once the six finalist posters have been chosen, they will be put to a popular vote from 19 to 25 June, using a mixed voting system to facilitate public participation:
- Voting in person at the Abando Municipal District Centre (c/Barrainkua 5), where the finalists' posters will remain on display until the election is over, with the following opening hours: from 8:30 am to 9:30 pm - Monday to Friday. To cast your vote, you will need to present a supporting document, such as ID card, driving licence or similar.
- Online voting will be through the Bilbao City Council website.
At the same time, the Jury will meet again to choose their favourite work.
As in previous editions, the popular vote will account for 66% of the value of the decision, and the remaining 33% will be decided by the Jury.
The poster with the highest score from the sum of these three votes will be the winner and will receive a cash prize of 3,000 euros. The decision will be announced on 27 June.
