During the summer months, Álava offers an attractive cultural programme that completes and enhances its offer of nature, heritage and food and wine: the Vitoria Gasteiz Jazz Festival in July, the Araia Theatre of Humour in August... Not forgetting its festivities.
Álava offers travellers an ideal place to disconnect and enjoy an unforgettable holiday with family and friends in peace and quiet. Nature parks, spectacular inland beaches, green itineraries to explore on foot or by bike, medieval villages, castles and defensive towers, the Salado de Añana Valley, the Santa María Cathedral...
And, of course, the unique landscape, wineries and wine culture of Rioja Alavesa.
This catalogue of possibilities is completed throughout the year, and especially during the summer months, with an attractive cultural and festive programme.
The 45th edition of the Vitoria-Gasteiz Jazz Festival will take place between 12 and 17 July with a line-up featuring artists of the stature of Eliane Elías, Arturo Sandoval, Theon Cross, Robert Glasper and Kase.O Jazz Magnetism. The performances will take place in the Mendizorroza sports centre, the Teatro Principal and the Falerina Garden. All the information at www.jazzvitoria.com
Three weeks later, on Thursday 4th August, Vitoria-Gasteiz dresses up for the fiesta with the descent of the Celedón and the start of the Virgen Blanca Festivities. For six days, the streets of the capital of Alava are filled with music, comedy shows, gastronomic competitions, fireworks, rural sports exhibitions and, above all, a great atmosphere.
Every corner of the town centre offers something different with activities for all ages and tastes. Fun is guaranteed morning, noon and night. Full programme at www.vitoria-gasteiz.org
We will only have a few days to rest and disconnect while enjoying the natural and historical heritage of Alava... Just enough time to recover our strength and get ready to have a great time and laugh without complexes with the different proposals that the Araia Humour Theatre Festival will offer us between 11 and 14 August.
The epicentre of this festival of laughter is the town of Araia, in the Llanada Alavesa region, where as well as enjoying plays and comedy shows we can discover a rich heritage such as the dolmens and menhirs or the painted churches of Alaiza and Gazeo, an abundance of nature and one of the best cheeses in the world with DO Idiazabal.
The performances take place indoors, but also in the streets and squares of Araia and other villages in the area. All the information about the shows, timetables and ticket sales at jaraialdia.com
