A group of 54 tour operators and travel agency representatives from 16 countries will visit the territory to discover its tourist attractions, take guided tours and participate in a workshop with the main agents of the sector in the territory to explore ways of collaboration and possibilities of working together in the short and medium term.

This visit is part of Match Bilbao Bizkaia, an initiative promoted by the Provincial Council and the City Council of the capital to promote the destination among companies and entities of the sector abroad with a clear objective: to take advantage of the reactivation of international tourism after the standstill suffered as a result of the pandemic.

The people who will take part in this visit are professionals from markets selected as being of interest and strategic for our territory. Italy, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Finland, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Norway, France, the Czech Republic, Ireland, Germany, the United States and India, together with Spain, make up the list of countries of origin of these professionals.

After being divided into 4 groups, they will start the programme of activities with a guided tour of San Mamés. The following day, they will visit Ondarroa and Lekeitio, the Bizkaia Bridge, San Juan de Gaztelugatxe and Gernika, and will take part in a joint visit to a winery where they will taste txakoli, participate in rural sports and folklore exhibitions and enjoy the traditional gastronomy of Bizkaia. In the afternoon, they will visit different areas of Bilbao -Ensanche and Abandoibarra or the Old Quarter- and will end the day with a pintxo dinner.

Thursday 28th will be dedicated to discovering the nature and heritage of Bilbao Bizkaia, with visits to the Pozalagua Caves, Balmaseda, the La Encartada Beret Museum, or the Loizaga Tower; the source of the Nervión River, Orduña, the Old Port of Getxo, the Flysch of Bizkaia, the Natural Parks of Urkiola and Gorbeia, the activity of the shepherds, Elorrio and Dima...
