Fireworks illuminate Bilbao once again

One of the most eagerly awaited moments of the 'Big Week' (Semana Grande), the fireworks display, will once again light up the sky over Bilbao during this week of festivities. From half past ten at night until 27 August, the classic Aste Nagusia fireworks will dress the capital of Bizkaia in light and colour.
One of the most eagerly awaited moments of each day of Aste Nagusia will take place every night at 22:30. 7 of the 8 world-renowned pyrotechnic companies called to this event, from Italy, France, A Coruña, Granada, Valencia and Zaragoza, will compete this year in the XXX Edition of the Villa de Bilbao International Fireworks Competition. On the last night, Saturday 27th, Pirotecnia Valecea (Araba) will give an exhibition.
Where to see the fireworks?
The City Council recommends the Left Bank of the Estuary, from Navarra Street to Paseo de Uribitarte, as the area with the best visibility to enjoy the shows that will light up the town during the festivities. There are also areas with adequate visibility, such as Plaza Arriaga, some areas of the Arenal, Plaza Ernesto Erkoreka, Paseo Campo de Volantín, Parque Etxebarria and Paseo Uribitarte, from Zubizuri to the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.
The areas with the least visibility from which to follow the fireworks displays are the Arenal, City Hall and Zubizuri bridges, from where it is also difficult to see the so-called low-level and ground fireworks.
