The Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa supports the tourism sector with the creation of these boxes of experiences in Gipuzkoa, a great gift for this Christmas. The packs will be sold from this weekend on the Gipuzkoa Turismoa website www.gipuzkoaturismoa.eus in three different versions and will include souvenirs of the territory.

From this weekend onwards, these boxes of experiences can already be purchased for this Christmas with the aim of making them a gift of interest for the local and national public, thus having a positive impact on the tourism industry in Gipuzkoa.

Under the name "Souvenirs from Gipuzkoa 2022", the idea is to "anticipate the memories of our next trip and already have the souvenirs we would bring back from a visit to Gipuzkoa".

Inside the box, which is available in a 100, 150 and 300 euro version, we find a series of objects related to the territory: a snapshot, a postcard, a sticker, a cider stopper and a limited edition photo. All the photographs included in the packs are taken by the San Sebastian photographer José Javier Serrano "Yosigo", who is currently in South Korea with his exhibition "Holiday Memories", which is breaking visitor records with more than 200,000 visitors since its opening in July.

In support of companies in the sector

As Iker Goiria, Director of Tourism, explained at the presentation of the initiative, "we wanted to support companies in the sector that offer tourist experiences with this campaign, as they have been some of the hardest hit by COVID-19. The decline in international tourism has had a direct impact on this type of business, as this is the type of traveller who tends to book this type of experience".

Goiria added that the aim of the Provincial Council is to "strengthen the sector and boost tourist activity beyond the summer and spread throughout all the regions, and this campaign is based on these principles. On the other hand, we must not forget that the good performance of local and state tourism, which this campaign is largely aimed at, is being fundamental for the recovery of the sector, and with this initiative we want to continue along the same lines", she stressed, recalling that the latest visitor figures for October have been "particularly positive, even improving on those prior to the crisis". "This recovery is not a coincidence, but the result of work well done by the sector, and the commitment of the territory to a quality and sustainable tourism model".

"These boxes capture the

essence of Gipuzkoa as

a tourist destination:

the authenticity"

Iratxe Elso, founding partner of the company "Navegavela", which focuses on organising nautical experiences and participates in the campaign, took part in the presentation together with Goiria. "From the beginning we really liked the idea of marketing our product in a gift box of experiences, designing an exclusive, unique and unforgettable experience. In our case it is a sailing baptism and there are many other very interesting experiences that are worth enjoying", he stressed.

The gift boxes

On the Gipuzkoa Turismoa website (www.gipuzkoaturismoa.eus) three different models of boxes can be purchased, offering a whole range of experiences linked to the cultural, gastronomic, scenic or natural attractions of the territory: Hernio (€100), Txindoki (€150) and Aizkorri (€300).

In all cases, souvenirs and a list of plans from which you can choose one to enjoy throughout 2022 are included. "These boxes reflect the essence of Gipuzkoa as a tourist destination: authenticity", said Goiria.
