Tàpies in Chillida Leku

More about:
On June 10, Chillida Leku will start a new exhibition line, with a program of invited artists focused on the sculpture made by great contemporary figures of Chillida. This new project begins with "Tàpies in Zabalaga", an exhibition in homage to the exceptional Catalan creator Antoni Tàpies (1923-2012) whose work, line the Basque sculptor, left a profound mark on the evolution of modern and contemporary art. The exhibition will be displayed on the upper floor of the Zabalaga farmhouse -occupying it in its entirety- and will be open until January 10, 2022.

It will be made up of a selection of small and large-format works, mainly sculptures, dated between the 1980s and the 1990s. In this way, they will establish a direct dialogue with the pieces by Eduardo Chillida, which will be exhibited on the ground floor, as well as with the Zabalaga farmhouse itself, a space that was restored by the artist from San Sebastian. The exhibition will have the collaboration of the Antoni Tàpies Foundation and the Tàpies family, as well as loans from various private collections.

Parallels and differences
The choice of the Catalan artist has its origin in the extraordinary parallelism that exists in the life trajectories of these two great figures of 20th centruy art. The biographies of Antoni Tàpies and Eduardo Chillida have several points in common and present parallel itineraries that coverge at different times historical and creative.

Espiritualismo oriental
