Gustoko, the gourmet paradise at the BEC

is preparing for the fifth edition of Gustoko, the gastronomic market that will bring together more than 200 exhibiting firms from March 1 to 3. With local, artisanal and sustainable products, this fair promises to be a unique culinary experience.

The BEC (Bilbao Exhibition Centre) is getting ready to host, from March 1 to 3, the fifth edition of Gustoko, the fair of local producers and artisans. This year, Hall 3 will be transformed into a true paradise for the most demanding palates, with more than 200 exhibitors offering the best of sustainable, local and artisanal production.

On this occasion, Gustoko expands its exhibition area by 20%. This expansion promises an even more complete and varied experience for all visitors.

The fair will be divided into several areas, including an exhibition area with producers presenting differentiated quality brands such as Denominations of Origin and PGIs, gourmet products, Slow Food and organic options. There will also be a Txosna with EuskoLabel certified producers, an activity room, picnic areas, a rest area and a toy library managed by BeUp BEC. All this will be accompanied by parades and a stage for live performances.

Gustoko is positioned as an event for both professionals and the general public. For the former, private tastings and a Reverse Mission have been organized, facilitating strategic meetings between exhibitors and buyer delegations. On the other hand, for the general public there will be showcookings led by the Escuela Superior de Hostelería Bilbao, free tastings by HAZI, pairings, presentations and direct sale of products.

Flavors from all over the world

Among this year's novelties, it is worth mentioning the participation of producers from almost all over the world. all the Autonomous Communitieswith representatives from Asturias, Burgos, Cantabria, Castellón, Extremadura, Menorca and Teruel, as well as firms from Araba, Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa, La Rioja, Cuenca, Soria, Alicante, Barcelona, Tarragona, Córdoba, Jaén, Málaga, and international products from Portugal and France. Visitors will be able to enjoy a wide variety of high quality products, from cheeses to truffles, special tomatoes, jams, oysters, oil, honey, eggs, charcuterie, chocolate, talo, creams, sobaos and cheeses, broths, coffee, special breads, puff pastries, txakoli, craft beer, cider and wine.

Sustainable approach

One of the most important new features is the certification as a sustainable event by Erronka Garbiaawarded by the Basque Government, underlining the event's commitment to sustainability, Gustoko also stands out for its focus on social responsibility, with exhibiting firms such as Itsaslur and Ekoizan/Vegaizan that have hired people at risk of social exclusion.

Gustoko 2024 will open its doors on Friday, March 1, with the morning reserved for the professional sector and the entrance for the public from 14:00. On Saturday 2 and Sunday 3, the hours will be from 11:00 to 21:00 and 11:00 to 19:00 respectively. Tickets, available online, will cost 3 euros and will be free for children under 13 and accredited professionals. In addition, a free cloakroom will be provided so that visitors can continue to enjoy the fair without worries.

The official inauguration, scheduled for Friday, March 1 at 12:00, will be presided over by Xabier Otxandiano, Councilor for Economic Development, Commerce and Employment of the Bilbao City Council.
