The charm of the Basque Coast

The Basque Coast is unique because of the relationship between the sea and the land. Green and blue sometimes merge in a gentle embrace, resulting in estuaries of breathtaking beauty such as Urdaibai, and at other times the passionate encounter shapes internationally renowned vertical walls, such as the flysch cliffs. Enjoy ecotourism on the Basque Coast!

Seafaring culture

The Basque coast lives and has always lived looking out to sea, it is synonymous with sustenance and the promise of great adventures. This relationship has borne fruit ranging from sport, such as the rowing regattas, to a surprising historical legacy (the first round-the-world expedition, for example, captained by Elkano 500 years ago). But it was not the only one, as can be seen in the museums that make up the Basque Coast Museum Network. Embark on a journey full of discoveries!

We recommend, among many other plans, the magnificent Flysch route in Geoparkea.

For surf lovers...

In surf towns such as Zarautz or Mundaka it is common to find surfers from different countries who have decided to settle in the Basque Country. This is no coincidence. The Basque Coast is a magnificent place to learn to surf, practice or simply watch surfing.

The Surfing Euskadi club is made up of authorised surf schools, which offer you surf lessons with the best equipment, surfcamps in incredible locations, surf-friendly accommodation where you can clean your wetsuit, store your board and check the wave report, as well as guides, tourist offices and specialised incoming agencies.
