We start the route from the heart of the fishing port, the ideal environment to taste the best of Basque gastronomy, and especially the seasonal fish grilled or, as the locals call it, in the "paila".
You may be able to see the unloading of fresh fish, which is then offered for sale at the fish market, inside the century-old fishermen's guild. This building, dating from 1916, houses the Santurtzi Itsas Museoa, a faithful witness to the exploits and misadventures of seafaring professionals and smugglers.
We will continue our walking tour along the promenade, enjoying an incomparable panoramic view of the bay and the sea breeze. A few meters away we find the Agurtza Museum Boat, an imposing wooden boat that extols the hard work of the arrantzales (fishermen) to catch the most prized tuna of the stove.
We ended the tour at the Monument to the sardinera singing the well-known song that recalls the times when the sardineras walked the streets, with their baskets on their heads, selling fresh fish shouting "sardina freskue".
