This 17 January, the feast of San Antón, the new vintage of Txakoli de Getaria will be presented in a small private ceremony in the Balenciaga Museum lasting 30-45 minutes. The popular celebration will take place afterwards, from 12:45 onwards at the Getaria pelota court, where the txakolis from 23 registered wineries can be tasted.

At the same event, the Mahasti Jaun award will also be presented. This year, the award will be given to the Donostia Pintxo Institute for its initiative in the recovery of the pintxo culture and its efforts to position the Donostia pintxo as a gastronomic reference point at world level.

Harvest 2022

The 2022 vintage is the 33rd to be marketed under the Getariako Txakolina Designation of Origin label. Production has been 20% higher than the 2021 harvest, with 4,800,000 kilos of grapes harvested, which means that around 4,300,000 bottles will be marketed.

A dry year with clear days has meant that the grapes have been harvested in very good health and the vineyard has not suffered significant attacks of mildew (vine fungus). Likewise, this weather with little rainfall has meant that, in general, the txakolis of the 2022 vintage have a slightly higher alcohol content than those of the 2021 vintage, more body and very balanced in acidity.
